The prerequisite for breeding success is the fertility of the mare and stallion. The pro-vitamin ß-carotene is particularly important. It is essential for the production of fertility hormones, for defense against infections and for embryonic development.

Unfortunately, ß-carotene, which is found in fresh grass on the one hand and in hay on the other, constantly breaks down during storage of the hay. The breeding horse's special need for ß-carotene can therefore no longer be met naturally. The consequences of a deficiency can manifest themselves in late or weak horse behavior in the best mare, as well as a lack of folicicle formation. In lactating mares, a ß-carotene deficiency can lead to a lower vitamin A content in the milk and thus endanger the foal's protection against infection.

Other nutritional factors that are fundamental to optimal fertility are vitamin E, which is also known as the fertility vitamin, and natural polyunsaturated fatty acids (formerly vitamin F), which enable the absorption and utilization of the fat-soluble vitamins. The need for B vitamins, which maintain mucous membrane functions (e.g. uterine lining), also increases.

With ß-carotene garlic from St. Hippolyt, the breeder has a high-quality supplementary feed available that compensates for the breeding horse's increased need for ß-carotene, vitamin E and naturally bound unsaturated fatty acids. The addition of yeast provides a broad spectrum of B complex vitamins. Garlic is known for its revitalizing effects. It provides valuable sulfur compounds, which are the basis for the body's production of non-essential amino acids.

Feeding recommendation:
